General Rules and Guidelines to be followed during any 1v1 boards tournament.
1. All matches must be played in a public match, although chat may be disabled if either player desires.
2. All matches must be reported on the 1v1 boards with replays attached to the forum post. If no replays are provided, the match can be verified by either the losing party, a 1v1 room moderator, or a tournament host. Repeated failure to provide replays may lead to disqualification or other host action against the offending player.
3. Contact for playing any match must be made in a public setting, preferably on a players Smogon Wall or on the Contact Channel in the specific tournament designated Discord. This contact should be made AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
4. If a match does not happen during the duration of the week and 1 player has not responded to the other player, the match will result in an activity win for the player who made the initial contact. If a match does not occur during the duration of the week and neither player have attempted to contact each other in a public setting, then the match will be decided randomly by the host.
5. If, for some reason, the players are unable to play their match in the duration of the week, they can request an extension to play shortly after the week has ended by contacting a host. If neither player does this, the match will be decided via host discretion.
6. If a player misses an agreed upon time, said player should attempt to reschedule AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. If they don't or the players cannot find a new common time to agree to play, the player who was on the server at the agreed upon time will receive an activity win. If they do, but are unable to play until shortly after the week has ended, they should contact the host as soon as possible for an extension. This also applies to disconnects.
7. After the week has ended, no more extension requests will be granted and any attempts at contact will be considered irrelevant.
8. All posted results ARE FINAL. If a player believes there is an issue with a result, they should contact the host PRIVATELY, and should provide screenshots to support their case. No ruling changes will be made if the week following the ruling in question has ended.
9. Discord channels for results, contacting, and predictions should be kept spam free. Off-topic and discussion posts will be removed and players may be muted. Discussion is to occur in the general channel.
10. Players that break smogon tournament rules will be immediately disqualified. All players should report any rule violations immediately with relevant screenshots.
Specific rules and guidelines for team based tournaments.
1. Managers are responsible for their weekly line-ups before the next week starts. Failure to submit a lineup will result in a random lineup generated from their available players (for week 1 only) or the lineup from the previous week before substitutions.
2. Players are responsible for getting their matches done. However, if a manager discovers that a player is unable to play that week and wishes to substitute them out, they must do so immediately. On Discord, the manager should notify all involved parties: both of their players, the opponent, the opposing managers, as well as the tournament host(s).
3. Substituted players should attempt to contact as soon as possible, or they may receive an activity loss.
4. Any numbers of players may be substituted during 1 week. However, players can not be substituted back in to the week if they have been substituted out. Nor can players swap positions in a lineup.
5. If there is an illegal substitution, any match that isn't the legal match will be considered void, and the party that attempted the illegal substitution will automatically lose the match if it does not occur.
Specific rules for battling.
1. All matches must be played in the designated format.
2. Players are not allowed to coach, make decisions for, or "ghost" a player during their tournament match. If a player does this, both the player and the ghost will be promptly disqualified from the tournament.
3. Any player attempting to impersonate another will be disqualified.
4. Observers should not attempt to interfere with the decisions of either player. If this occurs the observer may be disqualified from the tournament if applicable or banned from speaking if any tournament match.
5. All players should always show good sportsmanship in a tournament. Excessive complaints about poor match-ups, unlucky rolls and "hax", any tournament host ruling will be considered poor sportsmanship, and players may be subject to disqualification.
6. Players are not allowed to create multiple accounts to try and compete twice in a tournament. If duplicate accounts are discovered, all will be disqualified.
7. Any member should bring rule violations to the attention of a tournament host immediately by messaging them PRIVATELY. Screenshots and logs should be provided immediately. However, any action is ultimately decided by the tournament host, not the players and as such decisions made by the host are FINAL.
